. . . . . Some call it Heaven, I call it Home. . . . .
A Godly woman, a cherished mother, and a loving grandmother, Tommie L Thompson, 84, went home on Thursday, December 20, 2018.
Tommie was a charter member of Olivet Baptist Church, a prayer warrior, faithful in attendance . . . a “worker bee”. She always stated that she found joy in attending church from the time that she was a young girl. She was instrumental in starting the Benevolence program, teaching classes of all ages, and manning the kitchen for VBS for many years. Her legacy was her life of faithfulness to our Lord and Savior, encouraging her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as others to know him as their personal Savior.
Waiting for her in Heaven are her husband, Emmett; and son, Johnny.
Survivors include her daughter, Jeannette (Buddy) Miller; grandsons, Sam (Tonya) Stewart, Josh (Jamie) Stewart, Andy (Candy) Thompson and Tom (Briana) Thompson; and her great-grandchildren, Chloe’ and James Thompson, and Cale, Levi, and Gabe Stewart; as well as a special daughter, Jill Coker. She is also survived by her sister, Vashti Henderson; two sisters-in-law, Marcelle Thompson and Vernie Carpenter; and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Vergie Hussey and Joann Martin, two special friends, who were faithful to call and keep in contact with her during the most recent months.
A gathering of family and friends will occur at 1:30 p.m., with graveside services to follow at 2:00 p.m., at Crain Cemetery on Friday, December 28, 2018.
Her grandsons and great grandsons will serve as Pall Bearers.
Lewis Funeral Home of Milton has been entrusted with arrangements.
