JAY — Jay takes honoring its veterans seriously. On Dec. 15 the small town paid tribute to veterans who served their country and have since passed away with a wreath-laying memorial event.
According to Jay operations manager Eric Seib, over 300 wreaths were sponsored to be laid on veteran’s graves at 11 cemeteries in Jay and the surrounding communities.
“This event was in coordination with the Wreaths Across America organization that supplies the wreaths laid at Arlington Cemetery and includes over 1,600 locations across the United States,” Seib said.
Mitzi Bray-Dixon coordinated the event and officiated the ceremony. Volunteers from the Jay High School Student Government Association assisted veterans and other guests in placing wreaths at the Jay Cemetery, Mount Carmel Cemetery and Dixonville Community Cemetery.
