Jiu Jitsu Seminar for Hurricane Michael Relief

MILTON —Milton First Assembly of God at 6163 Dogwood Drive will be the site of the Brazilian jiu jitsu "Mega Seminar" benefitting victims of Hurricane Michael. At 9 a.m. Dec. 8, attendees will learn from guest instructors like Danny Ruiz, Daniel Silva, Tony Baker, David Fernandez, Tra Alidor, Anthony Mitchell, Sean Applegate, Chico Mendes, John Hanson, Anthony Benavente, Paul Domenech, Josh Mancuso, Erick Raposo, Jim Whyte and Jeff Cimmings. The $40 minimum donations 100 percent go to families and gyms affected by the hurricane. Organizers will take unwrapped Christmas gifts for children. Contact Tra Alidor at 572-1226 for information.

Santa Rosa Medical Center wreath lighting ceremony

MILTON — At 6 p.m. Nov. 29 the Santa Rosa Medical Center will hold a wreath lighting ceremony featuring pictures with Santa, cookies and drinks, and live holiday music. The medical center will also reveal its new da Vinci XI robot.

Navarre Park Christmas celebration

NAVARRE — From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 1 Navarre Park will be the site of Navarre's Christmas celebration. The parade will start at 2 p.m. at the library.

Milton Christmas Tour of Homes

MILTON — Dec. 1 and 2 is the Milton Christmas Tour of Homes by the Milton Garden Club. Tickets are $10 and available at 5256 Alabama St. Call 626-2003 for more information.

Milton Christmas Parade

MILTON — At 6 p.m. Dec. 1 is the Milton Christmas Parade with the theme "Christmas movies." The parade starts at the Guy Thompson Community Center on Byrom St. It then heads north to James St. where it will turn east on James St. The parade continues to Stewart St. and turns south on Stewart St. until ending at Elva St. Line up starts at 4:30 p.m.

Light Up Milton

MILTON — See the schedule here for Light Up Milton, 5 p.m. Dec. 7, sponsored by the city of Milton and the Santa Rosa Art and Culture Foundation.

  • 5 p.m. Anthea Amos plays church bells at First United Methodist Church, 6830 Berryhill Road
  • 5 – 8:30 p.m. face painting on North Riverwalk St. and a holiday food court and market on North Willing St. and North Riverwalk
  • 5:30 p.m. Santa's Reindeer parade begins at the corner of Elmira St. and Highway 90, goes east on Elmira to Berryhill St. then north on Berryhill St. to North Riverwalk gazebo.
  • 5:30 Margaret Arnold performs enchanting Christmas songs
  • 5:45 p.m. the local school chorus sings at the intersection of Willing, Berryhill and Broad St.
  • 6 p.m. Santa Claus appears at the south gazebo on Willing St. as the tree lighting takes place
  • 6:15 carriage rides start on Elmira St. in front of Camelot Junction. There will also be Christmas caroling with s'mores throughout north and south Boardwalk St. as well as a movie at the Imogene Theatre parking lot.
  • 7:45 the Lighted Boat Parade takes place at the north and south boardwalk area. It begins at Russell Harbor park and goes to the north gazebo bridge. 

Lighted Boat Parade

MILTON — The Blackwater Pyrates conduct the annual Lighted Boat Parade Dec. 7 but invite anyone with a boat to take part. Contact the Pyrates to join the parade by calling Terra at 313-2447, email mccombsathome@att.net or call the Santa Rosa County Chamber of Commerce at 623-2339. There will be a contest for the 'best themed' decorated boat. The meeting time is 6:45 p.m. in front of Russell Harbor Park next to the Highway 90 bridge. Participants who didn't sign up can do so the day of the event. This is a 'tween bridges' event. Boats will depart the park and follow the lead boat, head south to the eastern shoreline, turn at th erailroad trestle and cross to the Riverwalk where they'll head north and greet the parade goers. At the end of the Riverwalk, the boats will make a couple circles then dock for the trophy presentation. The trestle will remain open to 10 p.m.

Town of Jay Christmas parade

JAY — The Town of Jay’s Christmas Celebration On Commerce Street will take place 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 8. Commerce St. booths open at 8 a.m. The parade lines up at Jay City Park at 9 a.m. and starts at 10 a.m. Get pictures with Santa and Mrs. Claus by Nichole Lewis Photography immediately after the parade. If you are interested in setting up a booth, call Jay city hall at 675-4556.

Santa Rosa Democratic Women’s Club Christmas party

NAVARRE — The club will hold its annual Christmas party at 2 p.m. Dec. 13 at St. Augustine Church, Henderson Hall, 7810 Navarre Parkway. Tickets are $20 per person. This includes buffet dinner with dessert and drinks. RSVP by Dec. 7 with Margie Purkerson (850) 934-7931, margiep@bellsouth.net.
