FLU SHOTS: MILTON — The Florida Department of Health in Santa Rosa County is now offering flu shots by appointment at the Milton location at 5527 Stewart Street.
The fee is $32 and is covered by Medicare, for those who are eligible, as well as some other insurance plans. Vaccine is also available free of charge for children 6 months through 18 years of age through the Vaccines for Children Program. The quadrivalent vaccine offers protection against four strains of the flu. To make an appointment, call 983-5200, between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

ADDICTION TREATMENT CENTER NOW ACCEPTS CIGNA INSURANCE: The Friary at Lakeview Center is now accepting Cigna Insurance for services. The Friary accepts many other health insurance plans including TriCare, and authorization for services is based on medical necessity.

JAPANESE U.S. MILITARY PROGRAM: 1 to 4 p.m., Oct. 6 the Japan-America Society of Northwest Florida’s Japan-U.S. Military Program (JUMP) event takes place at the National Naval Aviation Museum. The program includes distinguished speakers, cultural entertainment, and a reception on the flight deck of the USS Cabot.

MILTON GARDEN CLUB MONTHLY MEETING AND PROGRAM: 9:30-11:30 a.m. at the Milton Event Center, 5256 Alabama St. Milton Garden Club's next meeting will be on Oct. 16, the third Tuesday in October just this one month, usually the second. NAVARRE GARDEN CLUB ENVIRONMENTAL WORKSHOP: 5:30 p.m. Oct. 18 a series of environmental workshops begins. ‘De-Contaminate Navarre’ is the theme of a series of Workshops the Navarre Garden Club is sponsoring to address environmental hazards.
The first in the series, "Hazards We are Facing" will feature Santa Rosa County Commissioner Bob Cole in the Navarre High School cafeteria. Commissioner Cole is the Environmental Vice Chair for the Florida Association of Counties.

RABIES "DRIVE-THROUGH" CLINIC: 4-6 p.m. Oct. 19 at Santa Rosa County Animal Services, 4451 Pine Forest Road in Milton the county will hold a "drive-through" rabies vaccine clinic. The cost is $10. A driver's license is necessary for writing a check.
COMMUNITY EMERGENCY RESPONSE TEAM TRAINING OFFERED: The Navarre Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) will conduct basic FEMA certification training at the Holley-Navarre Fire Station #45 Oct. 19-21 and 26-28. Training is free and available for any adult citizen 18 or over, teens 14 and older can take the training with parental consent. No special skills or experience are required. Completion of the class does not create any obligation to become part of Navarre CERT but does qualify the graduate to be part of any Community Emergency Response Team in the country.
