We remember them

MILTON — John O Connor Post 4833 Veterans of Foreign Wars located at 5918 Carroll Road held their annual Prisoners of War (POW) and Missing in Action (MIA) ceremony on Sept. 22.

Guests included Santa Rosa County Commissioner elect David Piech and guest speaker Dr. John Albano.

Albano has 25 years of combined clinical, research, academic, and executive medicine experience in US Army aerospace medicine. He is a Fellow of the Aerospace Medical Association and received honors from the Army Medical Department Regiment, Society of US Army Flight's Surgeons, Army Aviation Association of America, and Army Space Professionals Association. Albano He currently serves as a flight surgeon for the Robert E. Mitchell Center for Repatriated Prisoner of War Studies aboard the Naval Air Station in Pensacola.

Kara Harrison, canteen manager for the post said the VFW honors the POWs who made it home and remembers the ones who have not made it home yet. 

“It was a very emotional ceremony with officers of the VFW setting the Missing Soldier’s Table,” Harrison said.
