ORLANDO — Peyton Owens, daughter of Derrik and Cortney Owens, competed in an international scholarship pageant in Orlando. Through a variety of components comprised of interview, fashion and beauty, she was awarded a scholarship and titles of World Imperial Jr. Teen Queen and World’s Most Photogenic among others.
Along with the other divisional titleholders, Peyton will be traveling to Europe and other countries to bring awareness and participate in H.O.P.E. (Helping Our People Everywhere), an organization developed to help with community service projects such as building an orphanage in Jamaica, collecting items needed to help homeless individuals get back on their feet and other service oriented projects.
The World Imperial program director is Patrina Buiss. She founded the scholarship program to recognize the power of the crown and make it a mission to ensure participants use that power to spread core values such as self-confidence, sisterhood and service. Participants in the program also enhance their public speaking abilities, interview skills, teamwork, poise, confidence and self-esteem.
Peyton has been recognized in the past with the Gold Presidential Award for community service hours and loves to promote awareness of pediatric cancer and organ donation. She is involved in her youth group at Immanuel Baptist Church as well.
