MILTON — The congregation at Pine Terrace Baptist Church will be out in force Sept. 28 – 30, to help the central Santa Rosa County community in an event they call Go Weekend.

Peter Burmeister, minister of students and missions, along with Josie Leonard, communications strategist are mobilizing 100 congregation members to go help at locations all over Milton and Pace.

"We will have members from sixth grade through adults from our connections classes providing volunteer-help to members of our community," Burmeister said. "The connection classes are made up of small groups whose purpose is to develop fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ and connect individuals together in fellowship in our church."

This is first time Burmeister has consolidated community work into one weekend. If Go Weekend is successful, Burmeister will implement the event every three months, he said.

The plan is to have 30 to 40 small groups of volunteers go to specific locations, provide fellowship, and help with projects identified by the church. The projects range from cleaning to painting, yard work and distributing food. The groups will also visit and take meals to shut-ins and will deliver baked goods to first responders in the Pace Milton area.
