Military program highlights U.S., Japanese relations

PENSACOLA — Santa Rosa County will be involved with this year’s Japan U.S. Military Program at the Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola Oct. 6, a program that brings together service members who have served in Japan. The Santa Rosa County Commission plans to issue a proclamation at the JUMP event and the county Economic Development Office is a supporter. Naval Air Station Whiting Field will also have a speaker.

The fourth annual Japan U.S. Military Program will take place 1 to 4 p.m. Oct. 6 at the National Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola.

Speakers include Honorable Kenji Hirata, Consul General, Consulate General of Japan in Miami; Ambassador James Zumwalt, CEO, Sasakawa Peace Foundation USA;

Barnet Harris, Commanding Officer, Training Squadron THREE (VT-3), NAS Whiting Field.

A reception will follow on the USS Cabot flight deck until 4 p.m. Visit displays highlighting the U.S. bases in Japan between 11:30 and 13:00:
