MILTON — Becca McKeithen and Kellie Hardy with Food Raising Friends Inc. Aug. 14 spoke at a Milton Rotary Club meeting.
This company was started once Becca and Kellie as educators discovered how many students who were hungry and may have a food shortage at home. Instead of sitting back they decided to do something about the issue and have attacked this problem with a passion.
They provide meals for a family with a goal of providing food for a two-week period.
They are not targeting just those in poverty but working through school guidance counselors to meet as many needs as possible. They also provide information to the families of the other food service programs in the area so they can help the families help beyond what they provide.
Food Raising Friends will have food drives where they enlist schools and businesses to help them collect the items needed for their food giveaway. To learn more check them out on Facebook.
