MILTON — CareerSource Escarosa and Pensacola State College teamed up June 21 to host a summer job fair at the Milton campus of Pensacola State College.
The event hosted over 50 local area employers with vacancies in healthcare, information technology, cyber security, aerospace, hospitality, customer service, retail, communications, corrections and government.
Organizers dedicated an area of the fair to construction trades in an effort to create awareness in the construction industry. This special feature allowed construction employers to connect with individuals seeking employment in the construction sector.
Carl Rogers, a recent graduate of Florida Polytechnic University, was thankful for the event.
“I recently graduated with my bachelors of science in mechanics,” Rogers said. “I’m currently looking for a job in the area, and yeah, I’m very hopeful.”
Local resident Carl Grammar was optimistic going into this particular fair despite a lack of success with previous events.
“I had been to other job fairs and didn’t have any luck,” Grammar said. “This one looks very promising. I have already talked to two places who are like ‘We need you now.’”
CareerSourse Escarosa representative Adderly Hanna was pleased with the tournout.
“It’s a very good venue,” Hanna said. “Job seekers seem to like it. The employers have room to breathe but aren’t spread too far out.”
