Dear editor,
Mr. Cumming’s letter on widening highway 90 noted how it would "enhance and beautify our little town." I guess beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. As I understand the proposal, it is to put the widening straight through the town, moving buildings as necessary. Ok, so in the downtown area of Milton, we have four lanes for straight-through traffic and than a turn lane on each side of those lanes for a total of six lanes. I don’t see that as being "family friendly," and "walkable," nor do I see "festivals and wonderful events" taking place in such a configuration. To keep it friendly, walkable, and attractive for people-oriented events I believe the through traffic must bypass the downtown area. But I understand those routes aren’t environmentally friendly so it is a dilemma. Back to the drawing board.
