1. EXPERIENCE LOCAL MUSIC. Bands on the Blackwater returns 7-9 p.m. April 13 on South Willing Street. The outdoor concert series, held Friday nights in downtown Milton, is free to attend. You can pull up a boat or bring a lawn chair and relax while listening to music. This week's featured performer is Chloe Channell singing today and yesterday’s country.
2. CONTINUE A TRADITION. The 46th annual Scratch Ankle Festival, also known as the Milton founder’s day celebration, is set 4-9 p.m. April 13 on South Willing Street. Celebrate the city’s heritage, listen to music, play games and eat food. Nonprofit groups will set up a variety of homemade games, food and information booths to raise money and awareness for their organizations.
3. SHOP ALONG THE HIGHWAY. Flea Across Florida returns April 13. The event, known as ‘Florida’s longest yard sale,’ can be found along U.S. Highway 90 from Live Oak to Pensacola. For more information and an interactive map see thefleaacrossflorida.com.
4. EXPLORE ARCADIA MILL. Arcadia Mill Archaeological Site will host “Florida’s Flora,” a nature tour of Arcadia Mill starting 10 a.m. April 14 at 5709 Mill Pond Lane, Milton. Join Arcadia Mill staff for a tour teaching and showing how past inhabitants of Northwest Florida used native plants that can be found throughout the site. This event is appropriate for all ages, and kids’ nature scavenger hunt activity sheets will be available after the tour. Trail-appropriate attire, bug spray and sunscreen is recommended. Tickets are $4 for adults and $2 for kids. Call 626-3084 for more information.
5. GIVE BLOOD. OneBlood will park it’s Big Red Bus 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. April 14 at Anytime Fitness, 6568 Caroline Street. All donors will receive a free OneBlood T-shirt and a wellness check up including temperature, blood pressure, pulse, iron check and cholesterol screening.
