MILTON — Pastel artist Tommy Vogel will be the guest artist for the next Santa Rosa Art Association meeting 9 a.m. March 24 at the Pensacola State College Milton Campus Bldg 4900. The meeting is open to the public with a $10 suggested donation for non-members.
SRAA Members and guests will create a beach scene using different techniques in pastels. Everyone should master these techniques without a problem, according to Vogel.
Working with pastels since his youth has led Tommy to his own distinct style.
The white sands and the beauty of the Gulf brought Tommy and his wife Judy to the coast after their retirement.
With no formal training, his work flows from inspiration, which he believes helps his creativity. His art has a realistic flare, with a broad use of color, and covers a wide range of subject matter from tropical to still-life.
Tommy teaches both young and older students, with a focus on color, technique, and compositions. His works can be seen at the Gulf Coast Art Association gallery.
If you have pastels please bring them. For additional information call Jean 313-3568.
The SRAA April guest will be acrylic artist Fuller Brown.
