PACE — Santa Rosa County held a ribbon cutting March 16 for the newly built Sweet Bay Bridge, the county’s first large infrastructure project funded by the Local Option Sales Tax. Sweet Bay Drive is scheduled for repaving in the coming weeks.
The bridge — which is 125 feet long — the county built to replace a series of culverts on Sweet Bay Drive at the crossing of Barnett Mill Creek. The estimated cost for the project was roughly $250,000.
Workers began on-site construction Jan. 5, and the county’s public works staff put in more than 2,500 hours of labor to install the bridge, according to a press release.
