MILTON — Ollie’s Neighborhood Grill in Milton was the scene of a car crash on Thursday afternoon. A Buick SUV parked in a handicap parking spot adjacent to the building struck the front wall.
The Milton Police Department was dispatched to the scene at approximately 12:31 p.m., where they found the vehicle in the building. The driver, Elizabeth Kolodziej, 73, of Milton, received minor injuries but refused medical treatment. The collision produced a hole the width and height of the SUV in the restaurant, located on Highway 90.
“I thought it was a bomb,” Ginny, an employee at Ollie’s, said.
Ollie’s owner Jon Anderson was not at the business when the accident occurred, but returned when he received phone calls from his employees.
“Well, we’ll get it fixed,” Anderson said. “I’ve got my contractor on the way.”
When the vehicle penetrated the wall, it hit a table where Dee Rouse and Jeannie Cotten of Leather 4-U in Milton were having lunch. According to Milton Fire Department Chief John Reble, the women were pushed out of the way and received minor injuries. Lifeguard EMS personnel treated them at the scene and released them.
A tow truck arrived at the scene to remove the vehicle while the police and fire department assessed the damage. Kolodziej will be cited for careless driving, according to the police department.
