Editor’s note: This continues our series on Santa Rosa County’s student athletes selected for the 2018 Subway High School All-Star Soccer Team.
MILTON — Reagan Hyde and Patrick Kiely of Milton High School are among the 22 athletes in Santa Rosa County selected to join the 2018 Subway High School All-Star Soccer team.
The Subway High School All-Star Series is a sequence of games between high school senior athletes from Okaloosa, Escambia and Santa Rosa counties. The main soccer game took place 5 p.m. March 1 at Gulf Breeze High School.
The East Girls Defeated the West Girls 9-1. The East Girls MVP was forward, Kileigh Whited of Navarre. The West Girls MVP was defender, Cheyenne McCarty of Tate.
The East Boys defeated the West Boys 1-0. The East Boys MVP was back, Brandon Bartlett of Navarre. The West Boys MVP was goalie, Christian Todavich of Tate.
Here, we catch up with the Milton High seniors on making the all-star team, their everyday lives and their aspirations.
How long have you been playing soccer?
RH: I have been playing soccer since the age of 8.
PK: 13 years.
What’s the best part of soccer?
RH: The best part of playing soccer, for me, is being able to compete and put in the work, but have fun while doing it. I love my team and they make it all worth it in the end.
PK: The best part of soccer is the feeling you get after a win in a hard fought game knowing you gave 100 percent.
What’s the worst part of soccer?
RH: – The commitment can get hard at times. The countless hours spent and dreadful morning practices begin to get exhausting, but it's all worth it in the end, so I would say that is the downside to it all.
PK: The worst part of soccer is losing to a last minute goal.
What is your favorite soccer experience?
RH: Beating Pace my junior year for the first time in school history.
PK: My favorite experience playing for Milton was being able to play with my friends that don't play club with me.
What are your hobbies outside of soccer?
RH: – Outside of soccer, my hobbies include hanging out with my friends and family when I get the chance. My friends and family are my everything, and I wouldn't be where I am without their love and support.
PK: My hobbies outside of soccer are volunteering with my church (First Baptist Church in Milton), hanging out with my friends and watching Arsenal play.
What are your college plans?
RH: I have verbally committed to play at Middle Georgia State in the fall.
PK: I do plan on going to college. Where? I'm undecided.
What do you want to do as a career?
RH: I plan to major in biological sciences and then continue on to Florida for graduate school and become a vet.
PK: I want to major in either Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering. As a career, I just want to find a good job in those fields to be able to provide for my future family and my current family.
What is your favorite television show?
RH: – I do not have a "favorite" show, but I'm into all of the superhero stuff. All of the marvel and DC shows and movies have always been my favorite.
PK: My favorite TV show is “Gotham.”
What is your favorite band or musician?
RH: I like a lot of music. Mainly the classic 80s rock, country and Christian music; however, my favorite would have to be classic country music like Rascal Flats, Toby Keith and George Strait.
PK: My favorite musician is NF.
If you could have one superpower, what would it be and why?
RH: If I had a super power, it would probably have to be mind reading. I'm always wondering what people are thinking about and I think it would be really cool to know, not to mention it would freak them out.
PK: I would choose teleportation so I could travel the world easily and especially to go watch my favorite soccer team, Arsenal, play in London.
