Santa Rosa County students recognized

MILTON — Here are highlights involving area students:

Pace resident Victoria Paige Purcell has been named to the president's list at James Madison University for the fall 2017 semester. Students who earn president's list honors must carry at least 12 graded credit hours and earn a GPA of 3.9 or above. Purcell majors in Social Work.

Peyton Ainsley Impett Alexander of Gulf Breeze has been named to the McDaniel College Fall 2017 dean's list with high honors.

A student achieves highest honors for a semester grade point average of 3.90 or higher, high honors for a grade point average of 3.70-3.89, and honors for a 3.50-3.69 average.

McDaniel College, founded in 1867, is a four-year, independent college of the liberal arts and sciences.

Madeleine Emholtz, of Gulf Breeze, was named to the dean's list at Ashland University for the fall 2017 semester.

Emholtz, who majors in history and political science, is a 2014 graduate of Gulf Breeze High School.

To be eligible for this honor, a student must be enrolled full time at Ashland University and achieve at least a 3.5 grade point average on a 4.0 scale.

Ashland is a mid-sized private university located a short distance from Akron, Cleveland and Columbus, Ohio.

Samford University releases dean's lists after the close of the fall and spring semesters each academic year. Santa Rosa residents who recently achieved the honor include Hayden Hill, Kaela Carpenter, Alexa Haines and Elliott Williams, all of Gulf Breeze, and Savannah Wilson of Pace.

To qualify for the dean's list, a student must have earned a minimum 3.5 grade point average out of a possible 4.0 while attempting at least 12 credit hours of coursework.

Samford, located in suburban Birmingham, was founded in 1841 and is the 87th-oldest institution of higher education. 

Makenzie M Ervin, of Pace, was named to the fall 2017 dean's list at Samford University's Cumberland School of Law. Ervin is a second-year law student.

To qualify for the Cumberland School of Law dean's list, a student must have earned a minimum 3.0 grade point average out of a possible 4.0 while attempting at least 10 credit hours of coursework.

The dean's list is the highest academic recognition given by the school at the end of each semester.
