MILTON — In honor of Florida Literacy Week, Hobbs Middle School hosted a parent night on Tuesday where parents could walk through the halls and follow each chapter of a book illustrated on classroom doors.

Hobbs students read “Terror at Bottle Creek” by Watt Key as a part of the One Book One School movement. Hobbs is one of 23 schools in Florida participating in this program.

Several classes decorated the doors of their rooms with scenes from each chapter of the book. Halls were decorated with representations of animals and plants to go with the theme of the book.

Reno of Reno’s Reptiles in Pensacola brought animals one might find in a swamp — the setting of the story — for students, parents and teachers to view.

The middle school jazz band played in the library, and refreshments were served to guests at the Jag’s Café.
