JAY — Cheer team students from Jay High School performed during the Dec. 28 Alamo Bowl halftime show in San Antonio.
The group joined marching bands and dancers from across the country in this major college bowl game.
"Produced by WorldStrides OnStage, the performing arts division of WorldStrides, an invitation to perform at the Alamo Bowl halftime show is an honor reserved only for the most talented student performers from across the nation," a media release states.
Under the direction of Junia Fischer, the Jay High School Cheer Team traveled to San Antonio where they rehearsed with other dance teams from across the country. In their free time, they took in the local sights, including a trip to The Alamo, a double-decker bus ride, Tower of Americas, Rio Riverboat Cruise and the Buckhorns and Texas Ranger Museum.
Fischer has led two performing trips and personally led the Jay High School group of 12 students to San Antonio.
