MILTON — The Santa Rosa County School Board has appointed two new assistant principals.

Roselyn Curtis, former dean at Milton High School, was named assistant principal of Avalon Middle School.

"My mom in particular is one of my biggest supporters, as she was a teacher’s aide for many, many years at Bagdad Elementary," Curtis said. "Without her, I probably would not be here today."

Ashley Flowers, former facilitator for gifted services, was named assistant principal of Hobbs Middle School.

"Thank you for your support and belief in me and my leadership abilities," Flowers said to the board. "I am honored to be selected."

With unanimous votes, the board approved both women.

“I tout those who have gone through this process, and have been reviewed by their peers more than you can possibly imagine,” Superintendent Tim Wyrosdick said.

“To rise to the level of being asked by a principal to join an administrative team at a specific school, a lot has taken place.”
