NAVARRE — A Navarre man is dead following a Jan. 9 traffic accident, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The accident took place around 8:30 a.m. at the intersection of Edgewood Drive and Highway 98.
Richard Litterst, 26, of Navarre was driving a 2008 Chevy Cobalt south on Edgewood approaching a red traffic signal at the intersection.
Geri Morse, 30, of Navarre was driving a 2002 Chevy Silverado with two girls, ages 1 and 2. They were traveling west on the inside lane of Highway 98 approaching a green light at the intersection.
Litterst, according to the report, disregarded the red traffic signal, drove around stopped traffic and proceeded into the intersection.
As both vehicles entered the intersection, the front of Morse’s Silverado collided with the left side of Litterst’s Cobalt.
Litterst’s car bounced southwest, coming to rest along the southern paved shoulder of U.S. Highway 98.
Morse’s truck rotated counter-clockwise and traveled to the west where it came to rest in the grass median.
Morse and her girls’ injuries were minor, according to the report. Litterst was transported to Gulf Breeze Hospital but his injuries were fatal.
Alcohol was not a factor, according to the report, and everyone was wearing a seatbelt.
