PACE — Pace High School senior Dalton Childs has signed a baseball scholarship with Coastal Alabama Community College in Monroeville.

Dalton, who has played baseball almost his whole life, received the offer during the summer. On Friday, he committed to the school in the presence of his family, friends, teammates and coaches.

Here, we catch up with Dalton.

What are your thoughts about Coastal Alabama offering you this scholarship?

I’m excited; I’m just ready to play.

How do you feel about leaving home?

It’s only an hour [away], so it’s not bad. But just the fact that I won’t be with my mom is kind of nerve-wracking, but we’ll get there.

What will be your major?

I’m not completely sure yet, but I’m thinking physical therapy.

Do you have any post-college plans?

[To do] something in physical therapy.
