MILTON — Dawn Alt, the director of Pre-K Head Start, recently spoke to the Milton Sunrise Kiwanis Club. Alt oversees 40 2-year-old children and 240 3- and 4-year-old children at the facility.
Milton Sunrise Kiwanis donates underwear and shoes yearly to the school, which gives children at the poverty level and below a chance to learn when resources are not available at home. Often, there are no books to read at home, nor are there crayons to use, nor anyone with time to teach numbers and letters. Head Start begins the training for self-sufficiency. The facility also has three classes for children with disabilities.
Milton Sunrise Kiwanis meets Wednesdays with alternating free breakfast and lunch meetings at Tanglewood Golf Course.
Call Dewitt Nobles, 623-3256, for information on meeting times for a specific date.
