MILTON — Milton celebrated Veterans Day Saturday morning with a ceremony following a parade through Milton.
The parade, which started at Milton High School and ended at the Veterans Memorial Park on South Willing Street, comprised various local groups including: Boy Scouts, Girls Scouts, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Emerald Coast Jeepers, Milton High NJROTC, Milton and Pace High color guard and marching bands, among many others.
Patriotic music played, candy and beads were thrown, and many waves and thank yous were expressed.
Large crowds of people dressed in red, white and blue watched the parade before commuting to the Veterans Memorial Park for a ceremony, where Milton Mayor Wesley Meiss; Santa Rosa County Commissioners Bob Cole and Don Salter; and Col. David Morris, TW-5 Commodore at NAS Whiting Field, spoke to the audience about the importance of the holiday.
