1. LEARN ABOUT NATIVE AMERICAN CULTURE. The Santa Rosa County Creek Indian Tribe will host their 27th annual Pow Wow from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Nov. 18 and 19 at their tribal grounds, 4750 Willard Norris Road in Milton. The grand entry will commence at 11 a.m. on Saturday and 1 p.m. on Sunday. Drums of the Descendants will perform Native American drumming. Head dancers Sara McGahee and Joseph Confer will also perform. Native American artifacts will be on display at the Heritage Booth. The tribe’s genealogist will be available to answer questions about Native American Ancestry. There will be storytelling for youths by the Tribal Elders. Food concessions will feature Indian fry bread and roasted corn soaked in a secret Indian mixture. More than 75 Native American vendors will sell jewelry, clothing, dream catchers, crafts and honey, among other things. Parking and admission are free.
2. CELEBRATE THE HOLIDAYS. The Santa Rosa Kids’ House will hold the 8th annual Festival of Trees Nov. 18 at the Imogene Theatre, 6866 Caroline St., Milton. The Festival Marketplace arts and crafts fair will take place 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. beside the theatre and will offer a variety of holiday shopping. Santa will be in town to hear the children’s Christmas wishes. As a part of the festival, the Silver Gala will take place 7-11 p.m. Heavy hors d’oeuvres and beverages will be served, followed by the live and silent auctions of all the holiday designs. Tickets are $50 per person.
3. MAKE A HOLIDAY DECORATION. Alyssa’s Antiques will host a ceramic Christmas tree class 4-6 p.m. Nov. 19 at 4586 Chumuckla Highway in Pace. Guests will be able to paint their own tree with lights and tree toppers included. All supplies are included, and the class costs $49.95 per person.
