TROY — Troy University crowned Amy Russo as its 2017 homecoming queen during halftime of the Trojans’ football game against Georgia Southern.

Russo, a senior broadcast journalism major from Pace, was crowned by Chancellor Dr. Jack Hawkins, Jr., Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey and 2016 homecoming queen Destiny Oliver.

“I’m so excited,” Russo said. “This is a huge honor. I absolutely didn’t expect it, and I’m just thrilled to represent the university this year as homecoming queen. I can’t believe this is happening.”

She was escorted by her parents, Richard and Tracey Russo, and was nominated by the University Activities Council, on which she serves as president.
