PACE — The Rotary Club of Pace held their weekly meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 24 in recognition of Rotary International's fifth annual World Polio Day.
This global effort, co-sponsored by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, celebrates workers involved in the fight to eradicate polio worldwide.
“This year, there are only 12 cases of wild polio in two countries, but as long as a single child remains infected, children in all countries are at risk,” a Rotary media release states.
“We are ‘this close’ to seeing this disease disappear for good.”
Pace Rotary meets 7 a.m. Thursdays at Stonebrook Golf Club, 3200 Cobblestone Drive, Pace.
