GULF BREEZE — Pediatric orthopedic surgeon Dr. Robert Huang has opened offices at Sacred Heart’s Pediatric Care Center at Gulf Breeze, located at 15 Daniel Drive, and at Sacred Heart Orthopedics at Davis Highway, located at 4541 N. Davis Highway, Suite A in Pensacola.

Huang is fellowship trained and board certified in pediatric orthopedic surgery. He graduated with his bachelor’s degree in biochemistry from the University of Rochester. Huang received his medical degree and completed his residency training in orthopedic surgery at Stony Brook University Medical Center, where he was resident research scholar in the musculoskeletal research laboratory.

Huang performed a fellowship in pediatric orthopedic surgery at Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio. He has served as a staff orthopedic surgeon at Shriners Hospitals for Children in Houston, Texas, and as director of academics and research for Banner Pediatric Specialists Orthopedic Clinic in Mesa, Arizona.

Prior to joining Sacred Heart Medical Group, Huang served in the division of pediatric orthopedics for Nemours Children’s Specialty Care Pensacola.

Huang has been awarded more than $120,000 worth of grants to study osteoporosis and spinal fusion from the State University of New York Center for Advanced Technologies and from Palms Clinic and Hospital Corporation, respectively.

He has chaired the Patient Education and Growing Spine Committees of the Scoliosis Research Society, and he is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America and the Orthopaedic Research Society.

At Sacred Heart Hospital, Huang has been a member of the medical executive committee and served as chair of the orthopaedic section of the department of surgery.

Huang’s arrival coincides with Sacred Heart’s new affiliation with University of Florida Health, which was launched earlier this year to provide an expanded range of specialized pediatric care. The UF College of Medicine has hired 12 pediatric specialists since January, and Sacred Heart Medical Group has hired five pediatric specialists since April.

Huang accepts new patients and most insurance plans, according to a media release.
