GULF BREEZE — Here is Gulf Islands National Seashore’s fall ranger programs schedule.

Gulf Islands National Seashore’s fall (October through December) ranger programs are as follows.   

FORT BARRANCAS AREA: Open Thursdays through Mondays, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

  • Advanced Redoubt: Legacy in Brick & Mortar — Saturdays and Sundays at 11 a.m.; meet at the entrance to Advanced Redoubt.
  • Fort Barrancas: Bastions on the Bluffs — Saturdays and Sundays at 1:30 p.m.; meet at the Fort Barrancas Visitor Center.

NAVAL LIVE OAKS AREA: Open daily from 8:30 a.m. to sunset

  • Kayaking 101: Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays in October. All equipment is provided for this 60-minute program. All participants must weigh at least 50 pounds. Reservations are required; call 916-5670 to reserve.

FORT PICKENS AREA: The Fort Pickens Museum is open daily 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

  • School of the Soldier — Saturdays and Sundays at 11 a.m.; meet at the Fort Pickens Bookstore. This 30-minute program includes firing demonstrations when the staff is available.
  • Fort Pickens: Guardian of the Gulf — Daily at 1:30 p.m.; meet at the Fort Pickens Bookstore for this 45-minute program.
  • Nature Walk: Life on a Barrier Island — Saturdays and Sundays at 3 p.m.; meet at the Fort Pickens Bookstore for this 30-minute program.
  • Stargazing: Friday, Oct. 20 at sunset; meet at the Battery Worth Picnic Area. Join park staff and volunteers from the Escambia Amateur Astronomers Association for a night out under the stars.  Get an up-close view of some celestial objects and learn more about the night sky. Telescopes will be available for use.

There will be no public programs on Oct. 13, 26 and 27; Nov. 10 and 23; and Dec. 8 and 25. All programs are free and are subject to change without notification. 

There is an entrance fee to the Fort Pickens and Fort Barrancas Areas.
