3 things to do this weekend in Santa Rosa County

1. ENJOY LOCAL MUSIC. Bands on the Blackwater returns 7-9 p.m. Oct. 6 on South Willing Street. The outdoor concert series, held Friday nights in downtown Milton, is free to attend. You can pull up a boat or bring a lawn chair and relax while listening to music. This week’s featured band is Southern Fried Band.

2. EAT PEANUTS. Gabbert Farm is hosting their 28th annual Peanut Festival 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Oct. 7 and 8 at 3604 Pine Level Church Road in Jay. On Saturday, there will be a pig chase at 2 p.m., antique automobiles and other displays. On Sunday, there will be a church service at 9 a.m., and a pet dress-up parade and contest at 2 p.m. The 1930s farm museum, 1940s J.D Dealership replica and antique shop will be open both days. Green, boiled, roasted, fried and candied peanuts will be available. There will be live entertainment both days, as well as arts and crafts, food, pony rides, hay rides, train rides, wagon rides, inflatables, rock climbing, bungee jumping and farm animals. 3. GO FISHING. The Navarre Fishing Rodeo will be held Oct. 7 and Oct. 8 at 1451 Navarre Beach Blvd. Participants may fish from the shore, a boat or kayak, or from the pier. Prizes will be awarded in all divisions. Weigh-in is at Juana’s on Navarre Beach Causeway and scales close promptly at 4 p.m. Junior anglers 12 and under can compete in the Junior Division for free. Proceeds from this event will benefit the Navarre Beach Marine Park including the Navarre Beach Sea Turtle Conservation Center, the Navarre Beach Marine Sanctuary and the Marine Science Station.
