MILTON — Upcoming Santa Rosa County events and activities are as follows. 

BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS OF THE EMERALD COAST’S 4TH ANNUAL STEAK & STAKE FUNDRAISING DINNER: Six-time Olympic medalist Jackie Joyner-Kersee will serve as the guest speaker for the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Emerald Coast’s 4th Annual Steak & Stake fundraising dinner. The general admission seating will begin at 6 p.m. with the program to follow at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 21. VIP tickets are still available which will grant access to the VIP suite at 5 p.m. The Steak & Stake Dinner provides an opportunity for every guest, including donors, community partners and volunteers, to meet with and hear from the direct beneficiaries of their efforts — the club members. Youths sit at every table and have the chance to share their story of why Boys & Girls Clubs of the Emerald Coast has a positive impact on their lives and what the Club means to them. 

FREE BOATING SAFETY CHECK: Coast Guard Auxiliary 1-7 event is 8-11 a.m. Sept. 23 at Archie Glover Boat Ramp, 2306 North 14th Ave., Milton. Boats passing the check will receive a decal; no penalty applies for boats that fail. Contact Chuck Meyer at 626-5927 for details.

REPUBLICAN CLUB OF SANTA ROSA COUNTY: 6:30 p.m. Oct. 3 at the Club at Hidden Creek, 7030 PGA Blvd., Navarre. The event includes a Dutch treat (pay as you go) dinner. The speaker is Santa Rosa County Commissioner Rob Williamson.

PENSACOLA GREEK FESTIVAL: Oct. 13-15. The Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Pensacola, 1720 W. Garden St. in Pensacola, will host the 58th Pensacola Greek Festival 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is free. FALL CHRISTMAS BAZAAR: Oct. 27-28; Point Washington United Methodist Church Woman’s Ministries will have their annual Fall/Christmas Bazaar. Craft vendors who want to reserve a table for the event need to contact Kathy Carpenter by Sept. 1 at 231- 2706 or jkcarpenter@mchsi.com. Six-by-3 tables are $20 for both days.

VENDORS WANTED: The Milton Eastern Star Chapter seeks vendors for a Christmas Village craft fair set Nov. 4. The event will be held on the grounds of the Santa Rosa Masonic Lodge on Highway 90 in Milton. Food, craft and other vendors are invited to apply. Details: 623-4066.

SANTA ROSA ADULT SCHOOL CLASSES AVAILABLE: Adult education classes include adult high school completion, adult basic education and GED preparation.  For $30 per term, students may select from classes offered in Milton and Navarre. Both day and evening classes are provided in Milton, and night classes are offered in Navarre. Classes are open enrollment so students can begin at any time. Call 983-5710 for details.

SANTA ROSA ADULT SCHOOL OFFERS ENGLISH LANGUAGE CLASSES FOR NON-NATIVE SPEAKERS: The ESOL class is designed to prepare English learners for working and living in local communities. SANTA ROSA COUNTY WRITER’S GUILD: 3:45-5:45 p.m. Tuesdays at the Guy Thompson Community Center, 5629 Byrom St. Milton Poet Laureate Marc Livanos’ poetry night includes open-mic, free verse workshops, poetry contests with prizes, author events and refreshments.

Other topics include Students Working Against Tobacco and community outreach events, such as the Sept. 30 Healthy Start Baby Shower and the Nov. 4 Tobacco Free Santa Rosa Farmshare.
