1. WATCH A PLAY. Panhandle Community Theatre will present a new type of play called Black Box Theatre. The event is set 7:30 p.m. Sept. 7-10 at 4646 Woodbine Road in Pace. First-time director, Charles Pate, makes his debut with these nine, short plays featuring simple design and almost no props. Tickets are $12 on Thursday and $15 Friday through Sunday. 2. ENJOY LOCAL MUSIC. Bands on the Blackwater returns 7 p.m. Sept. 8 on South Willing Street. The outdoor concert series, held Friday nights through Oct. 27 in downtown Milton, is free to attend. You can pull up a boat or bring a lawn chair and relax while listening to music. This week’s featured performer is Bay Bridge Band.
3. LEARN HISTORY. Arcadia Mill will host Sawmills and Skirmishes, a Civil War tour of Arcadia Mill, 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sept. 9 at 5709 Mill Pond Lane in Milton. Costumed guides will lead the tour. Tickets can be purchased online or at the Arcadia Mill visitors center. Tickets are $4 for adults and $2 for children ages 3-14. 3. BECOME A COMEDIAN. The Imogene Theatre will host an open mic comedy night 7-10 p.m. Sept. 9 at 6866 Caroline St., in Milton. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and participants will sign up on a first-come basis. You must be 18 years or older to participate, and a 3-5 minute limit on stage time will be strictly enforced. Admission is free.
4. MAKE A SPLASH. The Blackwater Water Fest will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 9 in downtown Milton’s event area on South Willing Street. This event is hosted by the city of Milton and is free for all children 12 and younger. Festivities will include several water slides and bouncers.
