UPCOMING

BOOK CHAT:  4 p.m. Sept. 6, Pace Library, 4750 Pace Patriot Blvd. This month's Book Chat selection is "The Truth About the Harry Quebert Affair" by Joel Dicker.  Registration is required.

ROCK PAINTING: 6-7 p.m. Sept. 6, Gulf Breeze Library, 1060 Shoreline Drive. For all ages. Space is limited; sign up is required. Supplies will be provided.

FRIENDS OF THE PACE LIBRARY FALL BOOK SALE: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 8, and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 9, Pace Library, 4750 Pace Patriot Blvd. Free to attend; a variety of books will be available. Visit www.friendsofpacelibrary.org for additional information.

CURIOSITY DAY: 10 a.m. Sept. 16, Pace Library, 4750 Pace Patriot Blvd. This “Curious George”-themed event will feature stories and crafts. For kindergartners through fifth-graders.

PRESCHOOL STORYTIME: Sept. 18 through Dec. 8 as follows.  

  • 11-11:30 a.m. on Mondays at the Jay Library
  • 11-11:30 a.m. on Tuesdays at the Navarre Library
  • 11:15-11:45 a.m. on Wednesdays at the Milton Library
  • 11:15-11:45 a.m. on Wednesdays at the Gulf Breeze Library
  • 11-11:30 a.m. on Fridays at the Pace Library

Storytime programs are for preschool children ages 3 through 5 and include stories, finger plays and action rhymes. Caregivers must remain in the library during storytime; however, they cannot accompany children into the programs. Visit www.santarosa.fl.gov/libraries for additional details.

GAME NIGHT: 3-6 p.m. Sept. 19, Jay Library, 5259 Booker Lane. Bring games from home or play those the library provides at 5259 Booker Lane. Open to all ages; game groups are welcome.

TODDLER TIME: 11 a.m. Sept. 20 and 27 at the Navarre and Pace libraries. For children ages 18 to 36 months who attend with a caregiver. One child and one adult register together for songs, stories, rhymes and other activities. This 20-minute program lasts six weeks and requires registration at the Navarre or Pace Library. Space is limited. Call Youth Services Coordinator Margaret Chatraw at 981-4066 with questions.

ARTISTS & AUTHORS EVENT: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 22, Navarre Library, 8484 James M. Harvell Road. Local authors and artisans will be staged throughout the library, sharing their talents, signing books and discussing their works. Some of the participants will have items available for purchase.

UF-IFAS EXTENSION: 10 a.m. every third Friday at the Gulf Breeze Library, 1060 Shoreline Drive. The University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences presents a monthly series on a variety of topics including agriculture, the environment, sustainable living, disaster preparation and recovery, 4-H youth development, family and consumer issues, and lawn and garden problems. September’s presentation is "Butterflies & Butterfly Gardening" with Louise Biernesser and Annie McIlhenny, Florida Master Gardeners.

FRIENDS OF THE NAVARRE LIBRARY BOARD MEETING: 10 a.m. second Mondays of each month at the Navarre Library, 8484 James M. Harvell Road, Navarre.

REFRESHING READS BOOK CLUB: 3 p.m. first Tuesdays at the Jay Library, 5259 Booker Lane. See a staff person to sign up. September’s title is "The Charm Bracelet" by Viola Shipman.

ANIMANGA CLUB: 4 p.m. third Tuesdays of each month, Gulf Breeze Library, 1060 Shoreline Drive. Bring your art; discuss techniques of drawing, cartooning, anime and manga, as well as your favorite titles and artists in those genres. Open to sixth- through eighth-graders.

GRAPHIC NOVEL BOOK CLUB: 5 p.m. third Tuesdays at the Milton Library, 5541 Alabama St. Members can suggest reading ideas, interests and discuss the world of the graphic novel. September's selection is "Filmish" by Edward Ross. Speak with a staff member to sign up.

BIBLIOBABBLERS TEEN BOOK CLUB: 6 p.m. on the last Tuesday of every other month in the Gulf Breeze Library’s meeting room, 1060 Shoreline Drive. Ninth- through 12th-graders who are 14 to 18 years old can discuss the read-of-the-month with friends. September’s book is "Legend" by Marie Lu.

COFFEE TALK BOOK CLUB: 6:30 p.m. second Wednesdays at the Gulf Breeze Library, 1060 Shoreline Drive. In September, the club is discussing "Evicted: Poverty and Profit in the American City" by Matthew Desmond.Call the library, 981-7323, to sign up.
