NAVARRE — The Santa Rosa County Baha’is are planning a “Paint for Peace” picnic from noon to 4 p.m. on August 26 in Navarre Park, 8513 Navarre Parkway, in the round pavilion with the fireplace.
The goal is to bring people together for fun, fellowship, and conversations, sharing ways to promote peace. The public may have a hotdog and paint rocks with words of peace during this free event.
Rocks and paint will be available, although participants may bring their own supplies if they prefer. Several area rock painting clubs received invitations. Attendees can donate one of the rocks they paint for a later park event.
This event draws attention to the 200th anniversary of the birth of Baha’u’llah, the founder of the Baha’i faith, a world-wide religion with followers in every country.
Baha’u’llah (1817-1892) was a spiritual teacher who announced in 1863 that he was the bearer of a new revelation from God. His teachings have spread around the world, forming the basis of a process of social transformation and community building.
