MILTON — A representative from DAG Architects attended the July 20 Santa Rosa County School Board meeting and presented the board with the status of current projects at schools within the district.

SIMS MIDDLE

According to the report, the classroom addition — built by Larry Hall Construction — at Sims Middle School should be complete except for marker and tack boards that were damaged during shipping, which will be replaced.

The architectural firm submitted a request to change their order to reflect the necessary replacement of approximately 120 feet of existing 6-inch sewer line that was discovered by maintenance during the relocation of portables at Sims Middle; this would add $2,040 to the original $1,230,000 project cost.

As for the kitchen addition at Sims Middle, ceramic wall tile installation is complete in the serving area, the slab for the prep kitchen area is placed, the balance of the slab placement was done July 14, and the installation of the hollow metal frames and block masonry began July 17.

CHUMUCKLA ELEMENTARY

Chumuckla Elementary School is also receiving a classroom addition and the DAG Architects report said that the contractor has completed the fire line installation and the inspection passed. The building pad installation should be completed the week of July 16, footing layout began July 19 and the shop drawing submittal is progressing on schedule.

ADMINISTRATIVE COMPLEX

As for the Douglas A. Dillon Administrative Complex on Berryhill Road in Milton, DAG is currently working on Phase 3: construction documents. DAG will be submitting Phase 3 for review by the school board on Aug. 7.
