PACE — Pace NJROTC’s Academic Team, along with teams from all over the world, recently traveled to Washington D.C. to compete at the annual Joint Leadership and Academic Bowl on the campus of the Catholic University of America.

The four participating Pace cadets placed fifth out of Navy JROTC teams nationwide at the event's third level.

Out of 583 Navy JROTC units, Pace NJROTC was one team out of eight to qualify for the JLAB's Naval portion on the weekend of June 24. The team, led by JT Hammond, included Sarah Bishop, Chase Manning and Grace Schulte; they competed in the academic portion. Their instructor, First Sgt. John Baker, accompanied them.

The cadets participated in five matches, ending with three wins and two losses. Each match consisted of questions stemming from the ACT.

To qualify for the competition, Levels One and Two were online tests completed earlier this year.
