MILTON — The State Division of Historical Resources has given the city of Milton a $10,000 Historic District Tour grant, with the stipulation that the city match 50 percent of the money.
At the July 11 city council meeting, the council decided whether the city would find funding to put and additional $10,000 toward the three things the grant is designated to do: put historic plaques on all contributing businesses in the downtown district, create a brochure and create a website and smartphone application.
Councilwoman Sharon Holley motioned to allow the city to find the funding to match the grant; Councilman Jeff Snow seconded the motion, which passed with Councilwoman Peggi Smith opposed.
