County considers analyzing 3 sites for judicial center

MILTON — Santa Rosa commissioners have received five proposals to consider for the location of a new judicial center. Thursday, the board will vote on staff performing cost analyses on three, including one not part of the five submissions.

Proposals include:

  • Guidry Land Development LLC's property on Avalon Boulevard at the Moors Lake development in Milton. The size and cost haven't been determined.
  • JDL of Santa Rosa's property, located at the intersection of Avalon Boulevard near Mulat Road, in Milton. The area is 13 to 19 acres at $1,027,000 to $1,159,000.
  • Jennifer Byrom's property, located at Highway 90 in East Milton near Peter Prince Airport. The property is 15 acres at no cost to the county.
  • Seville Square Realty LLC's property on Highway 90, at the Orville Beckford Ford site in Milton. Available acreage is 10.794 to 37 acres at a cost of $1,350,000 to $2,312,500.
  • Terhaar & Cronley's property at the intersection of Avalon Boulevard near Commerce Road in Milton. This property is 13.56 acres at $1,000,000.

The board also discussed over five acres of property it owns at the southeast corner of the intersection of Old Bagdad Highway and Pine Forest Road in Milton. This property is part of the proposed cost analysis as are the Guidry and JDL locations.

While the county owns the Pine Forest property, it’s not large enough for a judicial center. The board discussed needing to buy one or more nearby properties, which would be part of the proposed cost analysis.

The cost analysis’ purpose is to narrow site options but not necessarily eliminate any, according to Commissioner Lane Lynchard.
