MILTON — The Milton Parks Department will host Santa Rosa County’s Emergency Management representatives for Lunch and Learn on July 5.
The event is set 11 a.m. to noon in the Gracey Room at the Guy Thompson Community Center. Attendees will learn about being prepared during hurricane season; free lunch will be provided.
A free health screening is set 8-11 a.m. in the small conference room courtesy of RSVP Senior Corps and volunteers from the University of West Florida nursing school.

Blood drive scheduled in Jay
JAY — Baptist Health Care will host a blood drive provided by One Blood, Blood Bank.
The event is set Thursday, July 6, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Jay Hospital, located at 14114 Alabama St., Jay.
All donors will receive a gift. Donors must be age 16 or older, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good health. Photo identification is required.

Panhandle Butterfly House sets 'Make More Milkweed' class
NAVARRE — The Panhandle Butterfly House is offering a class on propagating milkweed.
The event is set 10:30 a.m. until noon July 8 at 8581 Navarre Parkway in Navarre at the foot of the Navarre Beach Bridge.
Milkweed is the host plant that monarch caterpillars eat. Class attendees will learn how to plant milkweed from seed and make cuttings from existing plants.
The cost is $5 and covers all supplies and plants that go home with participants. Those interested in the program should register and purchase tickets at the Butterfly House by July 5.

Sacred Heart sets free adult health screenings
Sacred Heart Health System will provide free osteoporosis screenings for uninsured adults at locations in Pensacola, Cantonment, Gulf Breeze and Milton. One location in Pensacola will be dedicated to heart-health screenings.

•July 12, 9 to 11:30 a.m. at St. Ann Catholic Church, 100 Daniel Drive, Gulf Breeze. Osteoporosis screenings only.
•July 13, 9 to 11:30 a.m. at St. Monica’s Episcopal Church, 699 S. Highway 95A, Cantonment. Osteoporosis screenings only.
•July 18, 9 to 11:30 a.m. at Bethel AME Church, 511 Woodland Drive, Pensacola. Osteoporosis screenings only.
•July 19, 9 to 11:30 a.m. at Health & Hope Clinic, 1718 E. Olive Road, Pensacola. Heart-health screenings only.
•July 20, 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 6451 Park Ave., Milton. Osteoporosis screenings only.
•July 27, 9 to 11:30 a.m. at St. John’s Catholic Church, 303 S. Navy Blvd., Pensacola. Osteoporosis screenings only.
Osteoporosis screenings measure bone density. Heart-health screenings will measure blood pressure, blood sugar and total cholesterol, and can detect anemia. The screenings are helpful in diagnosing conditions that put people at high risk for heart attack, stroke, diabetes and other health problems.

Escambia association seeks volleyball officials
Do you want to become a volleyball official? Then the Escambia Volleyball Officials Association is interested in you.
“Volleyball, one of the fastest growing sports, can provide a great way for you to get involved,” the association states in a media release. “Our certified, compensated volleyball officials provide quality officiating to high schools and middle schools in Escambia, Santa Rosa and Okaloosa counties.
“We’ll get you started and we’ll get you on the court.”
