MILTON — Here are highlights involving area students:

  • The University of Alabama awarded approximately 5,000 degrees during spring commencement May 5-7. Local graduates include: Brandon Lindsey of Gulf Breeze, Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering; Priscilla McCorkle of Gulf Breeze, Bachelor of Arts; Connor Torraca of Gulf Breeze, Bachelor of Science in Commerce & Business Administration; Cody Henson of Navarre, Bachelor of Science in Education; Joseph Revette of Navarre, Bachelor of Science in Human Environmental Sciences; Payton Scott of Navarre, Master of Science in Human Environmental Sciences; Alexander Thompson of Navarre, Bachelor of Arts; Kenneth Walters of Navarre, Bachelor of Arts; Jessica Hope of Milton, Bachelor of Science in Nursing; William Coe of Pace, Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering; James Gamble of Pace, Master of Science in Human Environmental Sciences; Jillian Honeycutt of Pace, Bachelor of Arts in Communication & Information Sciences; Claire Pierson of Pace, Bachelor of Science in Human Environmental Sciences; Clayton Santo of Milton, Bachelor of Science in Commerce & Business Administration and Master of Science; and Lisa Tucker-Williams of Milton, Bachelor of Science in Human Environmental Sciences. 
  • The Georgia Institute of Technology presented degrees to approximately 3,800 undergraduate and graduate students during the institute's 253rd commencement exercises on May 5-6. Local graduates included Robert Buechner of Gulf Breeze, Master of Science in Computer Science, and Kaitlin Fair of Gulf Breeze, Doctor of Philosophy in Electrical & Computer Engineering. 
  • Shorter University announced its dean’s list for the spring semester of 2017. Honorees include Madelyn Anderson, a senior, natural science major from Milton. To achieve this honor, students must have been enrolled full-time and have earned at least a 3.5 grade point average for the term. 
  • Top scholars at Southwestern College in Winfield, Kansas, and at Southwestern College Professional Studies have been announced with the release of the dean's honor roll for the spring 2017 semester. Full-time students who earned grade-point averages of at least 3.70 were eligible for the honor. Javid Henry, of Navarre, is included on the list. 
  • Baylor University College of Arts and Sciences student Katharine Ann Mahaffey from Pace made the dean’s academic honor roll for the 2017 spring semester. To be named to the dean's list, a student must be an undergraduate with a minimum grade-point average of 3.7, while enrolled in a minimum of 12 semester hours.
