Trump obstructed justice; special prosecutor needed

From George Orwell, in his book "1984," we learned of "doublethink" and "doublespeak." In the first, it is holding two contradictory beliefs in one's mind simultaneously and accepting both of them.

An example of "doublethink" is President Trump’s desire to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act with his Trumpcare, which in his mind, is better than Obamacare.

"Doublespeak” (would be) the firing of F.B.I. Director James Comey. The first explanation was that it was because of Comey's comments about Hillary Clinton in 2016. The White House staff has said that it had nothing to do with the investigation of Russian attempts to influence the 2016 election. Now Trump went on television and said that the investigation into the Russian actions in the election was primarily on his mind at the time that he fired the director, but the director was fired because he was not doing a good job.

I believe that President Trump has committed the impeachable offense of obstructing justice. He was actively trying to stop the F.B.I. investigation of the relationship between Russian intelligence operatives and the Trump election/transition teams. More than what he has done so far, Trump is the head of all administrative agencies and so, can control.

Given the political makeup of the White House, Senate and House of Representatives, the only way that Americans will be able to have confidence in the results of any investigation will be if there is a special prosecutor appointed.
