PACE — Samantha LaPorta first performed at a Blue Wahoos game in Pensacola at age 10; she is now 15 and making strides in the music industry. The teen released her debut single, "Summertime Hold On Me," last summer and, this spring, released her latest single, "I Know U Know."
LaPorta calls Pace her home, but often travels to Nashville, New York and Los Angeles for recording sessions with Radio Disney.
Here, we catch up with LaPorta about her music career and recent accomplishments.
When did you start singing?
At the age of 10, I started going to Nashville to sing.
Why did you want to become a singer?
For my 10th birthday, I went to a concert and told my mom "This is what I want to do," and started vocal lessons and guitar.
What was your first big performance?
(When) I had a showcase at the Hard Rock Cafe in Nashville.
What is your biggest musical accomplishment?
Being welcomed into the Disney family.
What's it like, being a part of Radio Disney?
I love it, it’s a dream come true. I’ve always wanted to be a Disney kid.
How is Hollywood different from Northwest Florida?
Hollywood has a fast-paced lifestyle, but at the same time, it takes a long time to drive anywhere. Here at home, it’s much more relaxed.
Who are your musical influences?
There are so many great performers. Right now, I am listening to Bruno Mars. He is an amazing songwriter, vocalist and performer.
Do you stick with singing exclusively or have you written songs?
While I was in Los Angeles last week, I wrote two songs.
Many Disney recording artists have branched off into acting. Do you wish to act one day?
I had so much fun making the “I Know U Know” video; I would love to branch into acting.
Which TV show would you love to appear on?
I love all the Disney TV shows.
