Jay teacher named Rookie of the Year

MILTON — Jay Elementary School fourth-grade teacher Jennifer Hendricks is the Santa Rosa Education Foundation's 2017 Santa Rosa Rookie of the Year.  

She was selected from a field of 33 educators with three or fewer years of teaching experience who were honored at the May 10 event. The Gulf Breeze Area Chamber of Commerce presented Hendricks with a $500 Sara Caudell Scholarship.

“Jennifer represents the face of a changing educational system,” Jay Elementary Principal Kelly Short said. “The energy she exudes, paired with high-impact strategies, is unprecedented and pushes beyond the boundaries of rigorous standards and academic challenges. 

"Jennifer embraces change is order to provide an effective, efficient and powerful learning environment for students. Jennifer’s vision for innovation and her ability to establish relationships with students, parents and other educators have been the heartbeat of her success.”
