MILTON — These library events are scheduled throughout Santa Rosa County.  

GAME NIGHT: 3-6 p.m. May 16, Jay Library. Enjoy playing games? Join us for game night at the Jay Library. You can bring your own games from home, or play those provided by us. This event is open to all ages, and game groups are welcome. The Jay Library is located at 5259 Booker Ln.

THIRD FRIDAYS WITH UF/IFAS EXTENSION: 10 a.m. May 19, Gulf Breeze Library, 1060 Shoreline Drive.The University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences presents a monthly series on a variety of topics. May’s topic is "Don't Let the Bedbugs Bite!" Johanna Welch, with Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, will cover bloodsucking pests and how to not take them home when you travel. The group will discuss history, biology, prevention and control.

DOCUMENTARY & DISCUSSION: 6 p.m. May 24, Gulf Breeze Library, 1060 Shoreline Drive. Watch a film on the NFL’s concussion crisis. The Friends of the Gulf Breeze Library will provide popcorn and coffee; feel free to bring your own beverage.

CLOSURES: Santa Rosa County’s libraries will be closed on Monday, May 29 in observance of Memorial Day.

REGISTER FOR SUMMER READING PROGRAM: Online registration begins June 1 for all children from preschool age to those who have completed the fifth grade. After registering, pick up a reading calendar at the library. Read for 15 minutes per day between June 5 and July 14 for prizes. Minutes that parents read to preschoolers count. Bring completed reading logs to the library through July 30 to claim prizes.

FRIENDS OF THE GULF BREEZE LIBRARY BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING: 5:30 p.m. second Tuesdays at the Gulf Breeze Library, 1060 Shoreline Drive.

FRIENDS OF THE PACE LIBRARY BOARD MEETING: 5:30 p.m.second Tuesday of every other month at the Pace Library, 4750 Pace Patriot Blvd. Details: www.friendsofpacelibrary.org.

ANIMANGA CLUB: 4 p.m. third Tuesdays of each month, Gulf Breeze Library, 1060 Shoreline Drive. Bring your art; discuss techniques of drawing, cartooning, anime and manga art, as well as your favorite titles and artists in those genres. Open to sixth- through eighth-graders.

GRAPHIC NOVEL BOOK CLUB: 5 p.m. third Tuesdays at the Milton Library, 5541 Alabama St. Members can suggest reading ideas, interests and discuss the world of the graphic novel. May’s selection is "Amazing Fantastic Incredible" by Stan Lee. Speak with a staff member to sign up.

BIBLIOBABBLERS TEEN BOOK CLUB: 6 p.m. on the last Tuesday of every other month in the Gulf Breeze Library’s meeting room, 1060 Shoreline Drive. Ninth- through 12th-graders who are 14 to 18 years old can discuss the read-of-the-month with friends. This month's book is "Burning Glass" by Kathryn Purdue.

READING EDUCATION ASSISTANCE DOGS: 4-5:30 p.m. second Wednesdays at the Navarre Library. Sit, stay and read with a furry friend at 8484 James M. Harvell Road. Registration required; contact the library, 981-7323, for details.

COFFEE TALK BOOK CLUB: 6:30 p.m. second Wednesdays at the Gulf Breeze Library, 1060 Shoreline Drive. May discussion focuses on "Dreamland: The True Tale of America's Opiate Epidemic" by Sam Quinones.Call the library, 981-7323, to sign up.  

BOOK CHAT:  4 p.m. fourth Wednesday of every other month, except from May until September, at the Pace Library, 4750 Pace Patriot Blvd. Participation is limited to 15 participants; registration is required. Contact the Pace Library to register.

BEREAVEMENT SUPPORT: 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. second and fourth Fridays, Navarre Library, 8484 James M. Harvell Road.

FICTION FANATICS BOOK CLUB: 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., fourth Saturdays except in May and November, at the Navarre Library, 8484 James M. Harvell Road. Sign-up is required, so drop by to sign up and speak to a staff member about reserving your copy.
