5th annual Autism OdysSea set in Navarre

NAVARRE — The Navarre Beach Marine Science Station and WeatherSTEM will host an event in support of special needs children and children on the Autism Spectrum.

Autism OdysSea is set 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 6 at Navarre Beach Marine Science Station at Gulf Islands National Seashore, 8638 Blue Heron Court, Navarre.

Northwest Florida Marine Education and Discovery of Gulf Ecosystems Inc. is the non-profit organization supporting Navarre Beach Marine Science Station as well as conservation and education programs on Navarre Beach.

Teachers, trained volunteers, community organizations and students from the Navarre Beach Marine Science Station will assist participants, who will rotate at their own pace to learning stations throughout the park. Activities include sensory stations, touch tanks, shark myths, sea turtle crafts, live critters, beachcombing, character meet and greet and kayaking, among others, for ages 8 and up.

The Navarre Rotary will provide lunch for all participants. Each family will receive a goody bag with a T-shirt and a Sea Turtle Autism car magnet.
