Youth football, cheerleading registration open

MILTON — The city of Milton Youth Football and Cheerleading Program, which soon starts its third year as a Northwest Florida Youth Sports Alliance member, has released its schedule.

YOUTH CHEERLEADING

Youth cheerleading registration is open now through May 19. The cost is $95 per person; this includes participation in the Milton High School Cheerleading Camp but not the uniform. Registration is Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday, May 6 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Guy Thompson Community Center.

Cheerleaders will be divided into these age groups with one team per group:

  • Mighty Mite, 5-6 years of age
  • Mini Mite, 7-8 years of age
  • Mite, 9-10 years of age
  • Midget, 11-12 years of age
  • Juniors, 13-14 years of age

YOUTH FOOTBALL

Youth football registration, which ends July 14, costs $100; this includes a trophy, jersey to keep, one mouthpiece and the use of shoulder pads, a helmet and game pants with integrated pads. Football registration is 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, June 24 at the Guy Thompson Community Center.

The Guy Thompson Community Center will offer a strength and conditioning camp beginning July 9. The camp will be held every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday until July 28.

Players in the football program will be split into these age groups:

  • Mighty Mites, 5-6 years of age
  • Mini Black, 7 years of age
  • Mini Gold, 8 years of age
  • Mite Black, 9 years of age
  • Mite Gold, 10 years of age
  • Midget Black, 11 years of age
  • Midget Gold, 12 years of age
  • Juniors, 13-14 years of age
