MILTON — Two young Milton gymnasts are making strides in area competitions.

Acrobatic gymnastics, a sport of skill, dedication and trust, is performed with pairs or trios. Performances are choreographed with combinations of dance and gymnastics. The sport ranges from levels one to 10, with increasing levels presenting their own challenging techniques.

Excelling at a regional level are Mirra Martin, 6, and Emma Touchstone, 8, a team from Flippin’ Out Gymnastics of Milton. In 2017, so far, they have brought home first and second place in their last two competitions.

“These girls work so hard at such a young age,” Lead Coach Mikaela Windle said. “Both of them always come in practice with great work ethic and (they're) continuing to grow. I am very proud to be their coach and can’t wait to see what happens next.”

Mirra and Emma will represent their gym at an April 29 state competition.
