PACE — The Florida Farm Bureau Insurance Company named Greg Cowell of Pace the 2016 field underwriter of the year at its annual state convention in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla.
Cowell has been with the company six years and spent the last 30 as a farmer. Before coming to Florida 10 years ago, Cowell raised corn, soybeans, hogs, cattle and Rocky Mountain elk in Missouri.
As an insurance underwriter under agency manager Bill Seelmann, Cowell is straightforward with his customers, he said.
“It’s a matter of doing your job right for yourself, for your company and for your customers … I tell customers, ‘I won’t lie to you or for you. The facts are the facts,’” he said.
Farm Bureau Insurance is a membership-based company, offering coverage for home insurance, car insurance, health insurance, banking and financial services. The annual $40 membership fee goes toward promoting farmers’ rights, according to Cowell.
By choosing customers, premiums stay low, according to Cowell.
Membership benefits include reductions on hotel stays, coupons for $500 off new Chevrolet vehicles, and discounts on Granger products.
Cowell and his wife, Kathy, live in Pace. His son, Andrew, is married with two children in Missouri.
