Congressional art competition to feature local students' works

PENSACOLA — More than a hundred Northwest Florida high school students will showcase their artwork at the Pensacola Museum of Art.

Each spring, members of the U.S. House of Representatives sponsor a nationwide high school arts competition. The Northwest Florida Congressional Art Competition and Show is an opportunity to recognize and encourage artistic talent in the nation, as well as in this Congressional District. 

The show begins 6 p.m. April 21 at the Pensacola Museum of Art, 407 S. Jefferson St., Pensacola. Masterpieces from students attending high schools in Escambia, Santa Rosa, Okaloosa, Walton and Holmes County will be on display. The winners will be announced at 7 p.m. 

The winning artwork of our district's competition will be displayed for one year in the U.S. Capitol. The exhibit in Washington will include the winning artwork from all participating districts from around the country. 

The winning artwork will also be featured on the House.gov Congressional Art Competition web page.
