PACE — Santa Rosa County has canceled Flicks on the Field due to timing issues, according to event organizers.
"We're looking at either next spring or fall,” said Brandi Whitehurst, Santa Rosa County’s Public Information Officer. “Gulf Breeze does something in spring and some in fall.”
Whitehurst said it was more a matter of County Commissioner Sam Parker coming on board, learning everything that's going on and being careful of his recreation funds.
“It was more of a timing thing," she said.
The outdoor movie series attracted 100 people to the last two events at Pace Area Recreation Park, according to Whitehurst. Residents could enjoy a movie in the park at no charge.
Families seeking budget-friendly entertainment shouldn't lose hope, Whitehurst said.
“We may look closer at how Gulf Breeze does their outdoor movie event,” she said. "We're not axing the event; it's just not happening this spring."
